Abundantly Blessed

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

Every day we wake up is a blessing. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, how often do we stop to appreciate waking up in the morning? Every day is a gift from God that we are called to unwrap. Often times we miss many of God’s gifts to us because we are not thankful enough. We have stopped counting our blessings. We have neglected the awesomeness of being alive, the wonders of nature, the love of family and friends, and the joy of work.

Counting our blessings doesn’t mean that we won’t have trials or hardships in our lives. Nevertheless, focusing on our blessings change how we view our problems. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can always control how we choose to respond. I have had seasons of life when I felt like everything was out of whack. I have had frustrating days when I just can’t seem to get anything accomplished. One day I was encouraged by our church pastor to focus on gratitude and to keep track of the many small things in life that I am thankful for.  I chose to stop complaining and instead gave thanks to God for the good in my life.  Counting my blessings stimulated my mind and heart toward contentment. I have learned to thank God for the things I used to overlook – the beautiful sunset, the love of family and friends, a delicious meal, good health and the air I breathe.

My life is not perfect and I don’t have everything but I have a perfect God who continues to bless me much more than I deserve. God promised He will bless us abundantly, so that we can overflow in love in serving others. Thanksgiving knows no age, skin color, or status. It is an opportunity for all of us to praise God from whom all blessings flow. May our hearts always be thankful.

God bless you!
